Free Beginners course (Jan 2018)
Junsui Ryu Ju Jitsu (Pure School of Ju Jitsu) provides high-quality instruction in the ancient Samurai martial art of Ju Jitsu.
Sessions are taught in an open and friendly environment, with the majority of techniques and principles taught in pairs. The intensity of training is set at a level that is appropriate for the individual, beginning with a compliant training partner (uke), moving on to an active uke to identify weaknesses of movement, posture and effectiveness and finally tested with a resistant uke or ukes to assess application under pressure.
Junsui Ryu seeks an immediate positive interaction with an aggressor, disrupting their balance and breaking the central core, thus negating the musculature. Once this is achieved, the application of appropriate technique is employed.
Junsui Ryu promotes a single form of entry into the majority of techniques and encourages the development of whole body sensitivity to allow an appropriate response once a position of safety is achieved.
As a result, Junsui Ryu offers a very realistic and effective martial art/self-defence system. Various types of aggression are dealt with as one progresses through the syllabus, beginning with simple wrist grabs and moving up to multiple attackers armed with random weapons.
Junsui Ryu Ju Jitsu emphasises the emotional and psychological elements of conflict and thus we employ roleplay to simulate realistic self-defence scenarios. Defence against walls, on the floor, in crowds and in confined spaces are all addressed, along with single and multiple person mugging.
Regular training will help to develop confidence, fitness and core strength. It is also a lot of fun, so please feel free to contact us, come and watch a session or simply turn up and join in – you will always be welcome
